Not having seen how well Joey was doing, I don't have the sense of indignation that some people have regarding what he's going through in this book. My only critique of this manual and most other service manuals for that fact is that they do not really have explanations of how systems work. Love is Love no matter who it's with! And you did feel the Love in this story.. I personally felt that the book would have been a lot better if the author had only alluded to the characters' sexuality by using inuendo and symbolism instead of coming right out and revealing almost all the characters to be queer.
