This book is basically how I managed to get myself together after a horrible childhood. My way of thinking today is what got me through everything in the past. I wanted more out of life and thinking positive thoughts through my hardships was all that got me through. Being Dyslexic and having a learning disability was one of my hardships. Asthma was one of my defeats. Domestic violence was my pain.
I was hooked within the first chapter watching Elijah become Desire, her transition, estrangement from her family, oppression, subjugation, abuse and that was just within the first 15 pages.
We explore racism, sexism, transphobia, the media and love throughout the book. It's too silly to plod through if it generally takes you more time than that to get through a story though. This book will help u get to your stages u want to get to. The third phase is another phase of fear, but as opposed to the panic of the first fear phase, Rofes argues that modern queer communities are paralyzed. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a well-written book detailing the history of Porsche, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.. It really needs editing. First published in 1992, it covers only the first two generations [1975-1990] of 3 series. Any student of the liberal arts - and, for that matter, anyone who has ever been inspired by a book, a painting, or a fragment of a song - should run out
