He is on his own in the world, falling down and getting hurt. I loved that the heroine was a bad ass but it somehow never seemed over the top. In the first volume I found myself getting lost over and over again like in some instances I thought to myself where did that come from? But in this second volume I haven't had that issue. One young man is given a choice that does not seem like a choice and happy happens. "I Am Not Joey Pigza" walks this tightrope and I've heard strong opinions about it from all quarters. This was the 1980s and there were very few gay men or woman who were "out" at work.
The fiction continues. Many lost their homes. With this, the third in the series, I am beginning to suspect that the focus of the series is elsewhere. The characters were all incredibly written. The second phase was based on two assumptions: that a cure was near and that the gay community knew of the danger of HIV and was practicing safe sex. They are only sharing with her father. Bec
