Can a jock, a geek, and a weird band girl team up to save the earth from total destruction?Ever since he hooked up with geeky Mike Pillsbury and discovered that there really is life in outer space, weird things keep happening to Scott Schreiber. For one thing, he discovers an inexplicable talent for flying. For another, he's tormented by an unbearable screeching noise--a noise that only he and Stacia Caraviello, a Weird Band Girt, can hear. Things get really bizarre when a sinister stranger shows up at school and tries to snatch Scott's science project, an odd nest he found in the woods near his home. Scott, Stacia, and Mike team up to protect it, only to learn that they've landed themselves in the middle of an intergalactic battle--a battle that could destroy the earth itself. Grade 5-7-This sequel to Can of Worms (Avon, 1999) is just as enjoyable as the first book. Quarterback Scott "the Mighty" Schreiber is in the middle of a vital game when he is blindsided by a hideous screeching noise that nobody else seems to hear. The Shard forces see this power as the ultimate weapon, and are desperate to get their hands (or claws) on one of these winged creatures. Scott encounters musical prodigy Stacia, the only other human who can hear the alien SOS and, together, they locate the Lyra's mate, hidden on Earth with their nest of eggs. With the help of Ditka, a space security cop who resembles a large furry dog, Scott and Sta

I hope Shannon LC Cate plans another book or a series with Jack and Lucy - I'd love to read more!. I would recommend this book for anyone dealing with anger issues.. Informative, insightful and full of examples. The writing was indeed good. Death and more death. It mentions Colombian copal, Baltic, Chiapas, Lebanese, Dominican and more. All in all it was fun if a little slow.. Our disagreements are reactive but they're usually over pretty quick and as mad as we both get we're the only ones there in an instant to pick the other up or help them in a way nobody else could get. Despite his ricocheting attention span and crazy impulses, he is always trying. I really enjoyed the movie version with Judi Dench and Steven Coogan and was a little surprised when a one-star reviewer claimed how inferior the Martin Sixmit
