I was completely blown away by the authenticity and incredible detais of this picturebook. The scene with Mary eating a peanut butter sandwich stretched it a bit too far for my taste. This book covers the now vanished world of Russian exiles from the Revolution till the 1950-60's. Very enlightening, often entertaining stories that open windows into the mind of a musical didact who shaped one of the world's great orchestras for nearly half a century. I took the test this morning, so now I can compare it with what this book offered.

One good thing I found with this book is it covered only what we needed for the test. I've been a fan of R. Marian is to be his teacher with the bow and arrow, for many believe she's the best archer. And there's a delightful surprise happy ending. You come into this light of understanding these bigger things and realize you knew the answers.
