If you plan to read the book, be aware that you will be reading fiction and, not very well written fiction, at that.. Her bible was falling apart and I ordered her one b/c I loved mine so much. I took the test this morning, so now I can compare it with what this book offered.
One good thing I found with this book is it covered only what we needed for the test. The movie is focused upon Philomena Lee with very little about the son she lost to an American family whereas the book is much more about the one, Anthony, who becomes Michael Hess.
The evilness of Archbishop McQuaid in Ireland is not part of the movie. The illustrations are detailed and marvelous -- grasping the attention of young and older readers alike. In many ways, my experience reading this book mirrors mine from reading 'Life After Death'. This book introduces you to the basic fundamental with sufficient references.
